The present government has set up bridges between about 20,000 people of Thanchi upazila, which is inaccessible and cut off from communication in Bandarban. The fate of the people of the area began to change with the inauguration of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's bridge on November 17, 2012. Due to the 'bridge' over the Sangu river, the traders are getting the opportunity to easily transport the agricultural products produced here. Several traders of Thanchi Upazila Bazar said, As a result of construction of Thanchi Bridge, trade and commerce in the area has increased more than before. The people of Thanchi Upazila, who were once the backbone, neglected and deprived, have started enjoying all kinds of civic amenities due to the special attention of Bir Bahadur and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the five-time elected MP from this constituency and the architect of Thanchi development. Since the construction of the bridge in 2012, about 20,000 people of Thanchi Upazila have been able to maintain direct communication with the district headquarters by any vehicle in just 4 hours.
